Steve Blackwell
As of August 1, 2023, Chaplain Steve Blackwell is retired from the U. S. Army Reserve after 20 years of service. He is an ordained Elder in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pastor Blackwell served several local church appointments from 1990 until 2007. Before entering full-time ministry in 1990, he taught high school mathematics in Robertson County, TN for 4 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University (1986) and a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University Divinity School (1993). Pastor Blackwell joined the U. S. Army Reserve in 2003 and served as Active Guard Reserve Chaplain from 2007 to 2021. At his retirement he was serving as the Command Chaplain for the Army Reserve Careers Group at Fort Knox, KY. Pastor Blackwell has an extensive and impressive background including many assignments, awards and educational accomplishments including a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in 2020.
Pastor Blackwell and his wife, Diane, have been married for 41 years and have three grown children and four grandchildren. Diane has taught for 39 years in the Tennessee Public School System. Most recently, at Hillsboro Elementary Middle School in Williamson County.
